My maternity leave is rapidly winding down, so Wednesday I threw my girls in the car and headed south. "Threw" is actually a bit of an exaggeration; "wedged" is probably closer to reality. Babies require stuff and I seriously reconsidered repealing my anti-huge SUV stance when I realized the Passat was squatting low.
We made a pass through Baton Rouge and tried to see everyone we could. We made sure to see Mama Ninfa. Becca gifted me with an hour massage and baby-sitting for my girls-awesome!!!
If you and I share a hometown, then you know what happens the second weekend in June-Corn Festival!
Now this requires some explanation. When I say my family comes in every year for the Corn Festival, that doesnt mean we actually go to the festival. Mostly, if we can help it, we sit at my parents' house eating and drinking as the grandkids entertain us. This is way more enjoyable than sweating thru $20 worth of ride tickets and the visual splendor of mullets, tube tops and cellulite. Travis and his crew couldn't make it this year, but the weekend didn't disappoint!
